In May this year Bob Vigar was awarded the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia Service Medallion, which you can read about in the organisation's official publication WINGSPAN.
MAAA Secretary Kevin Dodd said the medal was awarded once a year, with the decision made by the association's board of directors.
"The establishment of the Museum (display) in Alice Springs was a project headed up and undertaken by Bob on his own accord to further aeromodelling and provide an insight into the sport, what it has to offer, and to showcase past achievements," Mr Dodd said.
"Like Bob, our members are all volunteers and without them the normal everyday functions within the 360 MAAA Clubs could not survive."
Mr Dodd said the MAAA Service Medallion recognised members of MAAA who had contributed to Aeromodelling in some form over and above what would normally be expected.
